Clubs are characterized as large weights on the end of a haft with no sharp edges. Of course these are best to crush, break, and squash your target into a fine paste. Clubs do bludgeoning damage.
Bludgeoning damage is often the most effective means of defeating powerful, desirable NPCs in melee combat. Rarely is the club chosen in competitive PvP due to its peculiar arc and swing speed, and player-armour's adequate protections against it.
